Today's victory.... title and registration Flag

I've made some more progress, and tore a few more things apart...
Going to start to button this project up, and try to get her on the road by end of August.
More updates to come.

Latest updates.... Removed power steering. Pulled power brake booster and brake master cylinder. Both are bad, rusted tight wont move=no brakes. I have good working used parts from another rabbit that I previously destroyed. Removed Air Conditioning. Different wiring harness on non-A/C cars, as well as the whole heater assembly. Good thing I have parts from another rabbit to replace these too.
Took advantage of everthing being out of engine bay to do some clean up and painting.

Before:

Worse rust was on the panel near the battery tray, and the battery tray. Both strut towers are totally solid - A VERY-VERY good sign for a rabbit.

Here's the after ... Cleaned rust, painted bay, undercoated lower section of bay.

And then ... Welding... Welding... Welding....

Although the whole exterior is rust free, and the floor pans at first glance were rust free.... Poke around enough and you'll find that all the floors get weak on the MK1's if they see winter. This one was saved with minimal patch work. Re-inforced the seat rails which tend to rust right off... and then you've got some problems. Did not take a BEFORE welding picture on this side (passenger side) which is the worse. Drivers side has a little rot in same spots... Will take pics when I start on that side.

Before -- Areas that got welded and re-inforced are circled:

Re-inforced outer seat rail

And all buttoned up. under coated, and ready for sound deadening material.

By the way I got a complete dark blue interior Seats- seat belts- carpet- dash, etc, etc.
I do need 4 door dark blue door cards if anyone has a line on some.
